So I'm starting a blog...

For a few months now, I've been playing around with the idea of starting a blog.  I've always loved to write, even if it's in a journal no one else will ever read.  I also really enjoy reading other people's blogs, whether it's a friend from college I haven't seen for years, an aquaintance I barely know (except via blog!), or a complete stranger I've stumbled upon via Pinterest.

I've even formulated potential blog posts in my head.  Things that are on my heart, a recipe I tried and loved, or the latest happenings with my sweet little boy.  But I've hesitated.

Do I really have time to blog?

Our sweet little 6 month old Luke
In all honesty, probably not!  I am currently a full time work-from-home mom to a six-month old son.  My husband and I are in a unique situation in that we both have jobs that allow us to work from our home offices.  It is both a blessing and a curse.  I am so thankful that unlike many other duel-income families, we do not have to drop our child off at daycare all day every day.  We are blessed to be able to witness all of his changes, milestones, and firsts while still having the luxury of two paychecks.  I wouldn't trade it for anything.  But it is also a real challenge because every day we have to balance the demands of our jobs with the needs of our son.  As you can imagine, I do not have a lot of free time on my hands to blog or do anything else for that matter!  Yet I keep coming back to this idea over and over again...

So, I've decided to give it a try., but I make no promises as to how often I will post.  My goal is once a week, but things may get so hectic that I only have time to blog once a month or a few times a year.  We will see.

What will I blog about?

I have thought of many different things that I could write about, but in the end I decided to stick to three of my passions:

Faith: I am proud to say that I am a devoted follower of Jesus Christ.  I love God more than anyting else, and my greatest desire is to live a life that pleases Him.  That life, however, is far from flawless.  I am a broken, imperfect sinner saved only by the grace of my Savior.  God is continuously chipping away at my faults and refining me into the person He wants me to be.  My hope is that blogging about my faith will strengthen my own relationship with the Lord and perhaps draw others closer to Him as well.

Family: As mentioned above, I am a proud mama of an adorable little six-month old boy named Luke.  He is a sweet little miracle, and I am constantly amazed at the love and joy he brings to our lives.  I am also blessed to have an amazing husband named Jake.  He is the love of my life and my best friend.  Through this blog, I will share the latest news and happenings of our little family.

Some amazing sweet potato gnocchi I had at a restaurant
recently and am hoping to recreate sometime soon

Food: I have always loved to cook and eat.  I am a Registered Dietitian by trade, so I strive to eat a healthy, well-balanced diet.  That being said, I absolutely adore cheese, peanut butter, and all things chocolate.  My blog will include some of my favorite healthy and not-so-healthy recipes.  I love to experiment with new foods and flavors and hope you will enjoy reading about some of my experiments.
Will anyone read it?

I honestly have no idea. But I have finally decided that it really doesn't matter.  While I hope that other people will read and enjoy my blog, that is not why I am doing it.  I am blogging to give myself a much needed creative outlet, share with friends and family who are far away, and to strengthen myself as a person.

If you do choose to read my blog, I hope you will enjoy it and that it will help you grow in some area of your life.  Please feel free to comment and share your own thoughts.
